KWAZULU-NATAL — National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader Fadiel Adams has renewed allegations against KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, this time pointing to a recent arrest he says is directly linked to the senior officer.
Adams spoke exclusively to eNCA on Tuesday following a brief appearance before the Madlanga Commission, where his testimony was postponed to 19 August 2025. The delay came after commissioners received his affidavit late on Monday night and were left without sufficient time to thoroughly review its contents before proceedings began.
Adams warns of "major shocks" in his submission
Describing his first day before the commission, Adams said the experience unfolded as he had anticipated.

"I expected the commission to ask hard questions and to be somewhat aggressive because they have a job to do and findings to make," he said.
When asked about the substance of his affidavit, Adams pointed to the arrest of a prominent Durban businessman, alleging the matter was directly connected to the provincial police commissioner.
"Let me give you a heads up. One of Durban's biggest criminals was arrested, and that is in my submission. This person is known to have close associations with the KZN provincial commissioner,"Adams said
He added that his submission contained "major shocks."
Adams's full testimony is scheduled to resume on 19 August, when commissioners will have had adequate time to assess the contents of his affidavit in full.
Justice Madlanga reprimands Adams
In related news, Justice Mbuyiseli , saying it appeared as if the Member of Parliament (MP) was not taking the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry seriously. Justice Madlanga made the admission during the National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader’s appearance before the Commission on 11 August 2026. In explaining the reason for providing a statement so late, Adams claimed that his laptop was constantly experiencing issues and was always in for repairs, and so he only saw the notice from the commission approximately five months after it was sent.
Parliament refutes Adams' laptop claim
Briefly News also reported that Parliament has publicly contradicted testimony given by National Coloured Congress MP Fadiel Adams before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.Parliament reviewed the ICT Service Desk logs for the period in question and has released a statement. According to Parliament's statement, the records contain no reports of persistent hardware malfunction, repeated device freezing, or the laptop being submitted for repairs on multiple occasions.
