GAUTENG — Fadiel Adams admitted that he knowingly overlooked procedural irregularities involving Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) investigations, saying he was willing to "close his eyes" to certain conduct in order to get criminal cases before a court.

The National Coloured Congress leader made the admissions before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on 21 August 2026. Adams, who was appearing for the third day, was questioned about the criminal cases he opened against senior officials within Crime Intelligence.

Adams confirmed that he considered some of the actions as unusual but did not regard them as seriously improper at the time.

Commissioner Khumalo pointed out that this conduct was directly relevant to what the Ad Hoc Committee had been investigating, and asked why Adams had not raised it during those earlier proceedings or in his evidence-in-chief before the commission.

The NCC leader then admitted that he was willing to overlook certain things.

"I will be honest with you, Commissioner. I need IDAC to succeed. I needed these cases before the court.

Commissioner Khumalo then asked if he was willing to do anything to ensure that IDA succeeded, however improper it was.

“Not anything, Commissioner, but there are things that I was willing to almost close my eyes to get to the end result."
