Sun City's most celebrated five-star hotel has added a bold new chapter to its story. The Palace of the Lost City officially opened the doors of its Plume Jazz Lounge on 29 August 2026, introducing an evening destination built around live music, fine dining and a design identity rooted in African luxury.

The Palace, which has anchored Sun City's luxury hospitality offering since 1992, spent six months developing the concept from idea to opening night. The result is a venue that sits alongside established Palace dining spots such as Crystal Court, the Grill Room and Tusk Bar, while carving out a distinctly different atmosphere for evening entertainment.

Inside the Plume Jazz Lounge

The lounge draws on the aesthetic of classic global jazz houses, rendered in rich emerald and gold tones with warm ambient lighting throughout. Interior design direction came from David Muirhead and Associates, who reimagined the space using luxurious finishes and contemporary detailing that still nod to The Palace's signature grandeur. A collection of handcrafted ceramics by Claylat, inspired by African landscapes and textures, adds a locally grounded dimension to the décor.

Resident musicians perform nightly, ensuring no two evenings feel quite the same, whether guests arrive for pre-dinner cocktails or settle in for a longer night of music.

What Guests Can Expect

Food sits at the centre of the Plume experience. The kitchen serves a sharing-style fine-dining tapestry menu built around premium local and international ingredients. Alongside the food, the venue offers a curated caviar selection, an extensive champagne list, rare spirits, South African and international wines, and signature cocktails, with pairing recommendations available to guide guests through each course.

Sun City Resort General Manager Brett Hoppe described the launch as a deliberate investment in the hotel's future direction. "Luxury travellers today are seeking more than exceptional accommodation.
