PINETOWN, KWAZULU-NATAL — National Coloured Congress (NCC) president and Member of Parliament Fadiel Adams has publicly rejected traditional electioneering methods, arguing that the party's record of direct community service is a more credible pitch to voters than campaign gimmicks.

Adams made the remarks outside the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on 11 September 2026, where he appeared on charges of fraud and defeating the ends of justice. The case was postponed to 16 October 2026.

NCC trades manifestos for municipal action

Rather than relying on promises, Adams pointed to concrete work the NCC has carried out in communities, including restoring water connections that municipalities had cut off, repairing drainage infrastructure, and combating infrastructure theft in Cape Town. He stated the party has no need for large campaign budgets, food parcels, or branded clothing to earn voter support.

Adams also addressed his ongoing legal troubles and told Eyewitness News that court appearances pull him away from community work. He attributed his prosecution to whistleblowing he allegedly conducted against senior figures in the South African Police Service and his sustained advocacy on behalf of Coloured communities, which he said have long been marginalised.

NCC maps out election strategy

Having transitioned from an activist organisation into a registered political party, the NCC is taking a focused approach to the upcoming local government elections. The party intends to contest municipal seats in selected areas of the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, and the Northern Cape, while directing its largest campaign effort across the Western Cape.
