EKURHULENI — The family of Elizabeth "Tsontso" Moselakgomo is waiting for her post-mortem examination to be completed before finalising funeral arrangements for the 38-year-old runner, whose body was found in Kempton Park among several women discovered dead in the area in recent days.
Relatives formally identified Moselakgomo's remains at the Germiston Forensic Pathology Service facility on Monday, 14 September 2026. Her family is originally from Mpumalanga, where her funeral is expected to take place once arrangements are in place.
The final run that never ended
Moselakgomo, who worked as a centre manager at Festival Mall, left her Kempton Park home on Wednesday, 10 September, for what was a routine afternoon jog. Her planned 8km route took her past Gladiator Street and Rhodesfield Main Road, close to OR Tambo International Airport.

It was her eight-year-old daughter who first raised concern when her mother did not return at the usual time. Family members, realising something was wrong, began a search that ultimately ended in tragedy.
Her body was later recovered partially naked behind the Protea Hotel OR Tambo, near the corner of York and Gladiator streets, adjacent to the R21 highway.
Fifth woman discovered in Olifantsfontein
The case has unfolded alongside a broader investigation into the deaths of multiple women in and around Kempton Park. A fifth woman was found in Olifantsfontein on Monday, 15 September, partially naked with visible bruises on her body. She has not yet been identified.
Police confirmed that the first four victims were sexually assaulted. Investigators were unable to determine whether the fifth woman had also been assaulted, as her body was already in an advanced state of decomposition at the time of discovery.
Moselakgomo's family is expected to receive further updates from police as the investigation progresses. Authorities have stated that those responsible for the killings could still be identified and prosecuted.
Deputy National Commissioner issues warning
Briefly News also reported that South Africa's Deputy National Commissioner for Policing, Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili, issued a stern public warning to those responsible for a series of killings in the Kempton Park area. At a briefing, police announced the formation of a dedicated multidisciplinary task team to investigate the deaths. Residents, particularly women, were also warned not to walk or run alone in isolated areas, and the public was urged to come forward with any information
