“She Ran With Strength”: Kempton Park School Mourns Runner Tsontso Moselakgomo

Laerskool Kempton Park Full Service School posted a heartfelt tribute to Elizabeth "Tsontso" Moselakgomo on 14 September 2026, the same day her family identified her body at the Germiston Forensic Pathology Service facility.

The school's tribute read:

"She ran with strength, kindness and a beautiful smile. You will be deeply missed. Her light will continue to run with us."

Tsontso, 38, was the centre manager at Festival Mall in Kempton Park. She was also a passionate runner, known to her community by her warm presence at local races. On Wednesday, 10 September 2026, she left her Rhodesfield home for what should have been a routine afternoon jog. She never returned.

Eight-year-old raises the alarm

When Tsontso failed to come home, it was her eight-year-old daughter who first alerted relatives. The family praised the young girl for her quick thinking, which set off an intensive search that ultimately led to the discovery of a body in Rhodesfield.

Her family confirmed her identity on 14 September and were awaiting post-mortem results before finalising funeral arrangements.

Fear grips Kempton Park

Tsontso's death is connected to a wider, deeply troubling investigation. She was the fourth woman identified among five bodies discovered in the Kempton Park and Olifantsfontein area over a two-month period. Some victims were found partially clothed or naked with signs of bruising. Acting National Police Commissioner Puleng Dimpane deployed a task team to investigate whether the cases are linked. One suspect, connected to the first body found in July, remains in custody.

Athletics South Africa and Tsontso's running club, Team Vitality, expressed grief and raised serious concerns about the safety of women exercising in public spaces.
