True crime commentator BellaMonsoon brought the chilling details of the Kempton Park murders to her Facebook audience on 14 September 2026. Her video arrived the same morning that a fifth body was discovered in the area, intensifying fears that had already gripped the community.
"Yesterday I was talking about four women. Today, there are five," she wrote in her caption.
All about the five victims
The deaths span two months. The first victim, a 37-year-old woman, was found near the R21 highway on 15 July, reportedly restrained with cable ties. Her boyfriend, a foreign national, was arrested two days later and remains in custody. A 32-year-old woman was found near the same road on 24 August. A third woman, discovered on 10 September, was in an advanced state of decomposition and has not yet been formally identified.

The fourth victim drew the most attention nationally. Elizabeth "Tsontso" Moselakgomo, a 38-year-old runner, went missing after an afternoon jog on 9 September. Her family identified her at the Germiston Mortuary after her body was found behind a hotel in Rhodesfield, partially clothed and severely bruised. She left behind an eight-year-old daughter.
On the morning of 14 September, a fifth woman was found on the side of Olifantsfontein Road, roughly 20 minutes from the Rhodesfield scene. Detectives believe she was killed between Sunday night and early Monday morning.
SAPS Task Team and community anger
A high-level task team led by Gauteng Deputy Provincial Commissioner Major General Mbuso Khumalo has been assembled, incorporating the Murder and Robbery Unit and the Investigative Psychology Unit. Authorities have not classified the deaths as the work of a serial killer, particularly since the first victim's case has a suspect in custody. However, SAPS acknowledged the similarities across the scenes are "sufficiently concerning."
Community groups, including Women For Change, have sharply criticised police advisories telling women to simply "be vigilant," pointing out that the victims were doing ordinary, everyday things.
