KWAZULU-NATAL — A video of AmaZulu King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini handling a firearm at an indoor birthday celebration has gone viral, drawing significant criticism and calls for a police investigation.
The footage, shared on X by MDN News, shows the king waving a gun around before placing it against the side of his head in what appeared to be a playful gesture, then handing it to another person. A "Happy Birthday" message was visible on a screen in the background.

"Carrying a firearm without a license is a crime. Right there on the video, the king has committed a crime. The law must take its course. @SAPoliceService please do your job. This is unacceptable."
Others were more sceptical about the nature of the weapon.

"It is an antique. You can tell it comes from a gift box of some sort by the packaging material that looks like grass; I don't know what it is called."
