Armed men allegedly abducted former SABC sports presenter and commentator Owen Ndlovu in Katlehong on the night of Tuesday, 15 September 2026, according to a report by Africa Daily.

Ndlovu's wife, Portia Ndlovu, was present at the time of the alleged abduction. She told Africa Daily that the men were armed when they took her husband at approximately 8 pm.
"He was picked up by men with guns, and they took him away. I'm scared for him," she said.
The matter has since been reported at Katlehong police station. Critical details remain unknown, including the number of suspects involved, their identities, and the location to which Ndlovu may have been taken.

Owen Ndlovu and his sports broadcasting
Ndlovu is a familiar name in South African sports broadcasting, having worked as a presenter and commentator for the SABC, where he covered football and other sporting events. Through his production company, Michaelowen Productions, he was also involved in the broadcaster's PSL soccer radio programming.
His work at the SABC later extended into the music space. He is credited as the organiser and founder of the SABC Summer Song of the Year concept and became active in the music industry through Artists United. In November 2025, EWN reported that Ndlovu, as the Artists United convener, was engaging with artists over outstanding royalty payments from SAMRO.
Ndlovu's complex relationship with SAMRO
Ndlovu is a SAMRO member and has had a complex relationship with the organisation. A Johannesburg Magistrate's Court dismissed a protection-order application brought against him by SAMRO CEO Annabelle Lebethe in July 2026.
