Former SABC Sports presenter and music rights activist Owen Ndlovu has been found dead after being hijacked and kidnapped on the East Rand, his family confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night in Katlehong, where Ndlovu had gone to collect his wife from church. According to police, three men approached him, with at least one brandishing a firearm, before abducting him. His Ford Raptor was later recovered abandoned and reportedly partially stripped in Walkerville
Ndlovu's body discovered in Thokoza
Residents in the nearby township of Thokoza made the grim discovery on Wednesday morning, when they came across Ndlovu's body.

His family has since confirmed his passing through an official statement, though further details surrounding the circumstances of his death have not yet been made public.

Who was Owen Ndlovu?
Beyond his work as a sports broadcaster for the South African Broadcasting Corporation, Ndlovu was known as a committed advocate for music rights in South Africa. His work placed him at the intersection of media and the creative industry.
During his broadcasting career, he covered football and other sporting events and was involved in PSL radio programming through his production company, Michaelowen Productions. His career later expanded into the music industry, where he became involved with Artists United and the SABC Summer Song of the Year concept.
