TS Galaxy are poised to restructure its technical staff after the FIFA international break, with Bernard Parker expected to transition from head coach to an assistant role as the club seeks a more experienced figure to lead the Rockets.

Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi confirmed the club's intentions in an interview with Ikwekwezi FM, citing Parker's current CAF C Licence as a primary reason for the anticipated change. Sukazi referenced Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who holds a UEFA Pro Licence, as the standard he wants Parker to eventually reach, suggesting the 39-year-old former striker should continue developing his credentials while remaining part of the first-team setup.

Galaxy's difficult start to the season

The Mpumalanga club has struggled for consistency this season, collecting one win, three draws and three defeats from seven Betway Premiership outings.

Back-to-back 1-0 losses to newly promoted Kruger United and Chippa United have compounded the pressure on the technical team. The defeat to the Chilli Boys came at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Sunday, leaving Galaxy 12th in the standings.

Sukazi was particularly critical of the team's second-half display against Kruger United, describing it as the worst football he had witnessed from the side. He also noted the growing discontent among supporters, acknowledging he could hear their frustration from the stands during matches.

Parker's time in charge

Parker took over the head coach position after Adnan Beganovic departed near the end of last season. His initial impact was encouraging, with Galaxy going five matches unbeaten under his guidance and securing their Premiership status. Those results persuaded Sukazi to hand Parker the opportunity to lead the team into the 2026/27 campaign.

However, the form has deteriorated, and the club now appears ready to bring in a coach with greater experience and stronger qualifications to steady the ship.

Galaxy would join a growing number of Betway Premiership clubs to have made technical changes this season. Sekhukhune United, Marumo Gallants and Richards Bay have already parted ways with Cedric Kaze, Phuti Mohafe and Ronnie Gabriel respectively, while Siwelele FC have suspended Lehlohonolo Seema.

With the international break offering a window to act, Galaxy's next league fixture is an away trip to Orlando Pirates on 18 October, leaving any incoming coach limited preparation time.
