Springboks star Handré Pollard and his wife, Marise, revealed their pregnancy bump on Instagram on Sunday, 31 August, drawing warm reactions from fans and fellow rugby players.

The couple which has become a fan-favourite of many Springboks fans loves posting their beautiful family on social media.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2019, are expecting their second child. Their post, captioned

“Home in human form” quickly attracted praise and love across social media.

The Boks are currently in New Zealand preparing for two Castle Lager Rugby Championship clashes against the All Blacks on 6 and 13 September.

Pollard and his family were previously based in Market Harborough, England, where he played for Leicester Tigers for three years. In March, he returned to South Africa to rejoin the Bulls ahead of the 2025–26 season.

Pollard's new business venture

Beyond rugby, Pollard recently stepped into the business world. In August, he became the ambassador for Invictus VSOP Cape Brandy, a premium South African brand.

The announcement was made in playful style, with the fly-half surprising shoppers in disguise during an appearance at Checkers.

Known for celebrating Springbok triumphs with a brandy-and-cola in hand, Pollard’s new venture connects his public image with South African drinking culture while marking his first major step into entrepreneurship.

Pollard joins a growing list of Springboks investing in the beverage industry. Trevor Nyakane developed Nyakane Gin during lockdown, turning a hobby into a thriving venture.

Steven Kitshoff partnered with Malcolm Marx to create Bomb Squad Lager, released just before the Rugby World Cup, while Percy Montgomery launched El Centurion 102 Tequila in 2021, pledging part of the proceeds to community initiatives.

The two athletes, who were long-time roommates during Springbok tours, often discussed life after rugby. Their shared passion for beer and business led them to launch Bomb Squad Beer, partnering with Saggy Stone Brewery in Robertson.

Springboks arrive in New Zealand

Briefly News previously reported that the Springboks, were greeted by enthusiastic supporters in Auckland, New Zealand, ahead of their upcoming Rugby Championship fixtures against the All Blacks.
