  • The panel's decision has direct implications for Coetzee's availability ahead of Saturday's URC clash against the Scarlets

Bulls captain Marcell Coetzee has been cleared of foul play following his URC disciplinary hearing, which concluded on Wednesday evening via video conference.

SARugbymag.co.za reported that the panel ruled in Coetzee's favour after he presented his case. The hearing was convened after the back-row forward was cited for an incident involving Ulster lock Ben Donnell during Saturday's United Rugby Championship fixture at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

The Charges Against Coetzee

The citing related to alleged breaches of Laws 9.20(a) and 9.20(b), which govern dangerous play at a ruck or maul. The laws specifically prohibit a player from charging into an opponent without binding, as well as making contact above the shoulders in such situations.
