It has come to light that Julius Malema’s ties to Adriano Mazzotti are stronger than what he has previously claimed.

Eyewitness News has reported that the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters home in Hyde Park estate where he lives with his wife and children is owned by Mazzotti.

The EFF and Malema have both faced criticism for their ties to the cigarette manufacturer who had previously donated funding to the party. There had been a public outcry that Malema should have reported the funding and been more assertive in making sure the funds had not been the proceeds of the crimes Mazzotti had confessed to.

The exclusive estate boasts security guards and is fortified with a 4-metre high perimeter wall, with surveillance cameras keeping a watchful eye on the comings and goings. The exclusive estate only has four homes within the guarded walls.

Adriano Mazzotti owns shares in three of the four homes and also resides within the estate. Definitely a dubious neighbour for Malema who clearly aspires to win the country over in the upcoming elections.

Julius Malema has a state residence in Cape Town but lives in the Johannesburg estate when he is in the area.

Mazzotti is a self-confessed cigarette smuggler who has made headlines for alleged tax evasion, which he consistently denies. He admitted to being linked to Malema, saying he won’t deny his friendship with the politician. Mazzotti revealed that the family pay a market-related rent for the use of the estate in Hyde Park.

According to the Citizen, Malema declined to directly answe questioning on the estate and instead said that he has moved to Cape Town to live in the residence the state has provided for him.

Julius Malema has been receiving unwanted negative publicity after allegations that himself, deputy Floyd Shivambu, as well as the EFF itself, had benefited from the VBS looting scandal.
