Saturday, 5 October saw the grand opening of Tyler Perry's TV and film studio in Atlanta, America.

Tyler is one of the most iconic black actors in the US and is Forbes' highest-paid man in entertainment.

On top of that, he's also won BET’s Ultimate Icon Award in June and got his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last week.

Tyler Perry Studios may be his biggest achievement so far, it's the first-ever black-owned studio, and the opening gala was attended by some of the most famous faces in Hollywood.

Terry Pheto was among many celebs who congratulated Tyler on his recent achievement - she gave him a cool shout-out to show how proud she is of the work he's done.

Briefly.co.za gathered a handful of snaps from the gala showing how stunning some of the guests looked:

Fox News reports that Tyler opened the studios because he was 'ignored' in Hollywood.

"I believe that I’m ignored in Hollywood, for sure, and that’s fine. I get it. My audience and the stories that I tell are African-American stories specific to a certain audience, specific to a certain group of people that I know, that I grew up, and we speak a language.
"Hollywood doesn’t necessarily speak the language. A lot of critics don’t speak that language."
