Jerusalema: Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode's song becomes South African anthem

Master KG probably had no idea what he was brewing when he recorded Jerusalema. The song has become an international hit and pretty much the national anthem of South Africa during the dreaded lockdown of 2020. Briefly.co.za takes a look at a few times that Jerusalema cheered South Africans up.

1. UJ students make Ramaphosa proud with Jerusalema challenge

President Cyril Ramaphosa recently called on South Africans to continue flying the SA flag high by dancing along to Master KG and Nomcebo's Jerusalema. This after the song became a national and international success.

Ever since then, there have been an influx in clips of people getting their Jerusalema on. While there have been many failed attempts, most people seem to know exactly how to move their bodies to the beat.

The most recent bunch to heed President Cyril's call, are the students of the University of Johannesburg. The crew recently took to their official Facebook page to share the vibey video of themselves breaking it all the way down.

2. Lawyers jam to Jerusalema Challenge

The Jerusalema challenge has taken the world by storm and everyone, from nurses to firefighters to cops, have been showing off their dance skills to Master KG's hit song.

Now, the Blue Downs Court NPA Group 2 joined the challenge with an amazing video of themselves dancing. On Friday, Janell Cochrane shared the video on her Facebook account. She revealed that although she was not in the video, she filmed it.

In just several days, the video gathered over 40 000 views and South Africans absolutely loved it.

3. Somizi gushes over meeting Master KG

TV and media personality Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung was super excited after he met the most shazamed artist in the world right now, Master KG.

Somizi took to social media platform Instagram to share a video of him meeting Master KG who was performing on Sunday's episode of Idols SA.

In the video Somizi says: "What are the chances that the universe would connect me to this man that I've always wanted to see. Finally, I found him.”

4. Cassper Nyovest shows love to Jerusalema

Cassper Nyovest has taken to social media to share his views on Master KG and Nomcebo's record-breaking smash Jerusalema. The rapper believes that the internationally-recognised song will hit a billion views on YouTube.

The Amademoni hitmaker, who is one of the most successful artists in Mzansi, expressed that he is inspired by the success of the single by his country's musicians. It is refreshing to see Cass giving credit where it is due. The song currently has just over 113 million views on the video-sharing app.

Meanwhile Briefly.co.za previously reported reported that Jerusalema money is long if Master KG’s recent Twitter post is anything to go by. The music producer recently left jaws on the floor when he shared a picture of his luxury car collection.

In the collection, the muso has a Ferrari, a Porsche and what looks like a Mercedes Vito. The total worth of all vehicles is almost R10 million!

Sharing the post online, Master captioned it:

“Young King!!! Wanitwa Mos!!”
