Mzansi celebrities react to the death of Wandi 'DJ1D' Nzimande

Mzansi has lost another one of its stars as it was announced that Wandi 'DJ1D' Nzimande has passed away.

Nzimande was a resident DJ at Kaya FM and the co-founded the streetwear brand Loxion Kulca. The radio station released a statement that confirmed the sad news.

The DJ and businessman's death marks yet another loss for those in the entertainment industry community and celebrities took to social media to share their reactions.

“Wandi was a friend and brother to so many staff members. We will miss his genuine interactions with people in the building and the work ethic he brought into every mix. It has been a real honour working with a cultural icon like him.”

Cassper Nyovest posted a tribute saying how wonderfully upbeat Nzimande had always been and expressed gratitude to the late DJ for believing in South African creations.

Maps Maponyane also posted about the news and wrote a heartfelt message about the selflessness of Nzimande and how he will be sorely missed:

"I hate that yet another incredible soul has left us. I can't thank you enough for all that you've done for me and for the industry. You were a trailblazer, true to yourself and always put your people on and backed the 100% - RIP my brother, we'll miss you
"Such a selfless man that just wanted to keep giving young people opportunities to thrive as often as he could. Met him when I was 18, & walked in my first @safashionweek show coz of him, & it opened many doors. I'll be forever grateful. Rest in peace brother 1D."

Others who joined in the mourning were DJ Black Coffee, DJ Euphonik and Sizwe Dlomo.

Lockdown actress Lindiwe Thembekani Ndlovu has passed away. Mzansi social media users have continued to send their heartfelt condolences to her friends and family following the veteran Thespian's death on Monday, 11 January.

The SAFTA award-winning actress died in her home, according to a statement released by her agency, Gaenor Artist Management:

"What we will remember most is her love and unwavering dedication to her friends and family. She had a larger-than-life presence that was undeniably infectious to those who loved her."

Lindiwe played many roles on TV and film. She also loved acting on stage.

"By far her greatest achievement was receiving her SAFTA award, which was presented to her by the incredible American actor Samuel L Jackson, which she received for Best Actress in a Feature Film."

The official statement doesn't mention her cause of death. Mzansi TV viewers and celebs have flooded Twitter with their tributes and messages of condolences to her friends and family.
