Briefly.co.za reported on the viewership of Durban Gen declining after losing hundreds of thousands of viewers after the month of November.
Popular e.tv series Durban Gen has lost 300 000 viewers after their episode that brought in 2 million viewers in November 2020.
The series is set in a township in Durban, where the Durban General public hospital is situated. The show hit the milestone of 2 million viewers a few months ago after only being on air for a period of two months.
The show stars Zuluboy, Bhekisizwe Mahlawe, Lihle Dhlomo and Meshack Mavuso to name a few.
According to entertainment blogger and television commentator Phil Mphela, the show has lost a huge number of viewers since the successful episode in 2020.
"The medical drama series peaked at 2 Million viewers in November but sadly dropped to 1,75-million for their most watched episode in December 2020," said Mphela.
A number of social media users took to Phil's comments to talk about why they think the show has lost so many viewers:
@_nhlanhla_ngubo said: "They should can it in my opinion. Reason being, I expected to see a lot of medical scenes and learn through the process like the show 'The Good Doctor’ but we have to know about Dr Zulu’s side chicks for half of the season."
@Luka_Marli commented: "I'm part of that 2 million. I thought it was gonna be more like Grey's. Medical cases plus a bit of drama. It's an entire Uzalo in a hospital setting."
@Amanda_Maps1 said: "They focus more on drama and dramatic scenes and forget that it's suppose to be a medical series."
