Julius Malema has touched down in Nkandla. The EFF leader and his delegation arrived by helicopter at the former president Jacob Zuma's homestead. The two politicians are meeting over tea on Friday, 5 February.
It is still not clear yet what they are discussing but many have speculated that they'll discuss Zuma's recent defiance of the Constitutional Court order compelling him to appear at the Zondo Commission into State Capture.
Malema hit Zuma up on Twitter after news broke that he has refused to appear before Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo. Zuma then agreed to meet Malema over tea at his homestead in Nkandla, KZN.
Since Malema arrived in Nkandla on Friday afternoon, many social media users have speculated about the agenda of the meeting. Check out some of their comments below:
Jeff Bruwer wrote:
"All part of their grand scheme, since the day Julius left the ANC they have been conspiring. Nice helicopter with tax payers money."
Christopher Parker said:
"Won't be surprised if he attempts to make peace with Julius and push his faction towards the EFF... That would make them powerful and very very dangerous."
Bongani Radebe commented:
"Dali Mpofu, Mzwandile Masina and Tony Yengeni are also there... let media newsrooms be objective and narrative about #MalemaMeetsZuma."
Dallian Noor Mohamed wrote:
"The plot thickens. Guess what's being discussed. 'Well, support me in becoming the next president of SA. We'll get rid of Mr Ramaphosa and I won't prosecute you'. Guess it's the same man who showed very little respect for former president Zuma."
Johannes Matjila added:
"What a good one fighter and a strategic fighter. I like the safety you are applying or else they will shoot the vehicle while in motion."
In related news, Briefly.co.za reported earlier on Friday that former president Jacob Zuma has reportedly instructed ANC Youth League (ANCYL) members in his home province of KwaZulu-Natal not to prevent Julius Malema from entering his home in Nkandla.
Zuma received intel that some members of the ANCYL were planning to block the EFF leader from accessing Zuma's homestead. Zuma and Malema, who have not been seeing eye to eye for quite a few years, agreed to meet over tea on Friday, 5 Februay.
The country went into a frenzy when the two political rivals agreed on Twitter to have tea together and discuss some of the issues currently facing Mzansi.
TimesLIVE reported that a source close to the situation said that some ANCYL members were mobilising to prevent Malema from entering Zuma's home. The publication reports that the source said Zuma said the ANCYL members "must not stop Julius."
"We will chase youth league members because the visit is not political," the source added.
It is not clear yet what Zuma and Julius Malema would discuss but they are expected to discuss, among other things, Zuma's defiance of a Constitutional Court order compelling him to appear at the State Capture Commission.
