- Former Wits University vice-chancellor Prof Adam Habib seems to have annoyed EFF leader Julius Malema
- Habib compared the #ZumaMalemaTea to the alliance between Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin in 1939
- Malema clapped back at Habib, making reference to President Cyril Ramaphosa and Habib
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has clapped back at former Wits University vice-chancellor Prof Adam Habib after he compared his tea date with Jacob Zuma to a Nazi meeting.
Specifically, Habib made reference to 1939 alliance between foreign minister of Nazi Germany, Joachim von Ribbentrop, and his Soviet counterpart, Vyacheslav Molotov (known as the Molotov-Ribbentrop, Hitler-Stalin or Nazi-Soviet pact). Habib added that the meeting was a 'devil's pact'.
Malema wasted no time in responding, referring to President Cyril Ramaphosa when he said 'your favourite':
"The pact happened at Mangaung when your favourite became his deputy, or you conveniently forgot about it because it is working for you?”
Take a look at Habib's response to the tea meeting below:
Below is Malema's response followed by another tweet from Habib:
Briefly.co.za earlier reported that Mzansi has been speculating about the possible outcome of Malema's tea date with Jacob Zuma. The duo has been making headlines after Malema asked Zuma if they could meet over tea.
Zuma stated in his tweet response that he would be more than happy to host Malema at his home in Nkandla. Adding that he has quite a bit of tea and Malema is more than welcome to share a cup with him.
Nkandla, #TeaWithZuma, #ZumaMalemaTea and #MalemaMeetsZuma started trending on Twitter as SAns discussed what could be the outcome of the politicians meeting.
The Citizen reported that The Black First Land First’s (BLF) National Coordinating Committee (NCC) believes that Malema’s meeting request with Zuma is a “trap” due to the fact that EFF MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi recently called for Zuma’s arrest.
A report by EWN stated political analyst Ralph Mathekga said that the one thing the former president and Malema appeared to have in common, is investigations into their conduct by the State Capture Inquiry. Below are just a few of the tweets regarding the meeting:
"I suspect Malema is going to apologise to Zuma, the same way he apologised to Mbeki. #MalemaMeetsZuma"
"Can I be a tea girl on that day #MalemaMeetsZuma?"
"#MalemaMeetsZuma EFF wants to use Zuma to fight the ANC. Zuma will use EFF to Avoid going to the Zondo commission. Respect Zuma and CIC they always have a plan."
