Primedia Broadcasting has parted ways with DJ Fresh and Euphonik, the media company confirmed in a statement on Wednesday night, 10 February.

DJ Fresh and Euphonik trended on social media a few weeks back after a woman accused them of drugging her and sexually assaulting her while she was still a student some years back.

Both the musician's names have been trending on Twitter since the news broke that Primedia has decided to release the two stars from their contracts.

In the statement, Primedia Broadcasting said:

"After careful consideration of the events of the last few weeks, the company has decided to release DJ Fresh and Euphonik from their contracts."

Both the radio hosts did their last shows on 947 in January after they trended for the allegations of sexual assault.

"The decision does not reflect a view on the veracity of the allegations against Euphonik or Fresh. Rather it prioritises Primedia Broadcasting's business imperatives," read the statement.

Tweeps have shared mixed thoughts on the companies decision to release the two media personalities even though their case has not gone to court. Check out some of the comments below:

"Three weeks after being pulled off air as they faced rape allegations, Primedia Broadcasting confirmed on Wednesday that DJ duo Thato "DJ Fresh" Sikwane and Themba "DJ Euphonik" Nkosi have been "released from their contracts. This is so sad..."

@TseboMolebatsi commented:

"Euphonik & Fresh departure from Primedia seems like contractual disputes more than rape allegations, however the allegations had an impact maybe remuneration was decreased due to tarnished reputations."
