Netflix fans have a new reason to get excited, as two recognisable South African faces have just landed the lead roles in a highly anticipated comedy spin-off. Entertainment blogger @TvblogbyMLU broke the casting news on Thursday, 10 September 2026, revealing that Rosemary Zimu-Mngani and Kyle Clark will front How To Ruin Diwali: Meet The Parents on the streaming platform.
The film drops on 30 October 2026 and is a spin-off rooted in the same South African Indian family comedy tradition that made The Kandasamys a fan favourite.
Rosemary Zimu-Mngani and Kyle Clark lead new Netflix film
Zimu-Mngani, best known to Netflix audiences from Savage Beauty, takes on the role of Mmabatho Nkomo, described as an overachieving perfectionist. Clark, a familiar face from 7de Laan and a former host on Expresso Live TV on SABC, plays her fiancé.

According to Netflix, the story centres on an interracial couple whose engagement pulls two very different families and cultures into each other's orbit, with plenty of humour, misunderstandings, and family drama to follow.
A star-studded ensemble
Beyond the two leads, the film boasts a rich supporting cast. Jailoshini Naidoo and Koobeshen Naidoo, who plays the future father-in-law, represent the traditional Indian family side of the story.
