Ghanaian female entrepreneur, Iddrisu Kande, has carved a niche in the male-dominated building and supplies industry.
Kande runs her own business called Marouf Aluminium Fabrications (MAF), a venture that deals in sliding doors and windows, louvre windows, balustrades, projected windows, partitioning, swing doors, etc.
The businesswoman has young people, including men who are understudying her to become expert framers of aluminum frames.
Kande has been celebrated by social media user, Sampson Osafo after he met her at the Timber Market, off the Tema-Afienya road over the weekend.
According to Sampson Osafo, he was impressed seeing a woman who is gainfully employed and thriving in a field typically dominated by men.
''I met this amazing young lady at the Timber Market, off the Tema-Afienya road over the weekend. A master craftswoman with three male apprentices, she’s making her mark in a male-dominated buildings and supplies industry. She’s gainfully self-employed, training others, and creating jobs,'' Osafo said in a post on Facebook.
As the world observed International Women’s Day on Monday, March 8, 2021, Osafo felt the need to throw the spotlight on Iddrisu Kande.
''This post may be a day late, but as part of International Women’s Day 2021, may I introduce to you Iddrisu Kande. In our very hot tropical climate, these solidly made aluminum frames with louvered blades make them ideal for ventilation, while integrating burglar proofs and mosquito nets. They say, she that climbs a good tree deserves a push. Kindly patronise and promote her business, if you can. She makes the full range of windows. Akpe (to wits, thanks),'' he added.
In other news, Briefly.co.za also reported, the famous quote by Hollywood actress and Oscar's winner Lupita Nyong'o that all dreams are valid cannot be gainsaid if one was to listen to the story of entrepreneur and businesswoman Souadou Niang.
Hers is a classic example of a woman who rose from grass to grace; it is a story of a hardworking woman driven by passion and dedication to making a difference in society.
Born and brought up by less privileged parents who lived in Senegal's capital of Dakar, Souadou's only hope was in education and a determination to utilise every available opportunity to climb up the ladder.
