Ntsiki Mazwai has made it clear that she does not see a saint in former apartheid president FW De Klerk.

The poet slammed the ailing politician on social media and said she wants to see him in jail. She tweeted:

“ARREST FW DEKLERK FOR APARTHEID CRIMES.”

Her comments come after the yearly debate of whether De Klerk is a friend or foe was re-ignited during his birthday celebrations. Many Mzansi social media users have shared the same sentiments as Ntsiki and called for his head. Twitter user idalawhatilike said:

“Only in SA would people like de Klerk want to lecture us about democracy and talk about human rights. The same man who stood against democracy for so long, the same person responsible for so many human rights violations.”

“De Klerk didn't choose to end apartheid because he was a good guy. The economy was in shambles, with billions in foreign debt, and continuing to implement racist policies was too unaffordable. The whites had already amassed enough wealth and they'd have nothing more to gain.”
