When it rains, it definitely pours. The socialite Mam'Mkhize is in a battle with SARS as it has been revealed that she owes massive taxes.
Mam'Mkhize found guilty of tax evasion
Mara, soft life comes at a hefty price. The business mogul finds herself on top of the trending list yet again. the star is in a financial war zone with Mzansi's taxman, SARS.
Shauwn Mkhize was found guilty by the High Court of South Africa of tax evasion and was then ordered to pay an amount of R37 million. In a report that was shared online, it explained in detail why the socialite should pay R37 million. It reads:
"A payment of R37,915,549.77, equivalent to thirty-seven million nine hundred and fifteen thousand five hundred and forty-nine rand and seventy-seven cents, is required.
"Interest on the amount mentioned in paragraph 1 will be calculated at the prevailing annual rate from November 1, 2023, until the date of payment. The specific interest rate and the start date for accruing interest will be determined by the Execution Creditor/Plaintiff [SARS]."
SARS goes after Mam'Mkhize's ex-hubby Sbu Mpisane
In other reports, Shauwn's ex-husband, Sbu Mpisane, has also been dragged into her tax woes as he also enjoyed the luxurious life of not paying taxes. Sbu has been dragged because he is still married to the socialite legally, though they have separated.
In August 2023, the Durban High Court Authorised SARS to attach moveable assets from the reality TV star's properties that she owns, including the three in La Lucia and three in Johannesburg.
The star also faces other outstanding payments, one of which is an R12 million unpaid payment to the former Royal AM player Samir Nurkovic.
Sars seizes R3m worth of counterfeit shoes from Mozambican border
In a previous report, Briefly News reported that the South African Revenue Services had a huge bust over the weekend and allegedly seized counterfeit sneakers and sandals worth approximately R3 million at the Mozambican border.
Although the seizure was substantial, certain South Africans were primarily interested in acquiring the confiscated items, while some proposed that SARS should explore Small Street in Johannesburg to uncover additional counterfeit goods.
