Veteran South African actress Dawn Thandeka King recently reflected on her journey in the show business and how far she had come.

Famous for her role as MaNgcobo on Uzalo, King looked back to when she first started as an actress, a young, bright-eyed girl from Eshowe, KwaZulu-Natal, with dreams of making it big in the industry.

From her very first acting gig on Inkaba to portraying the fan-favourite, revered and fierce Princess Mkabayi kaJama on Shaka iLembe, Thandeka King said she was in awe of how far she had come:

In a touching message on her Instagram page, posted on 4 September 2025, the actress considered possibly writing a memoir to share her story with the world.

Thandeka King went on to share pictures from her younger days wearing traditional Zulu attire to a more recent picture for her role on Shaka iLembe.

Her humility was reflected in her message, which touched the hearts of her followers.
