Social media is buzzing after Anele Mdoda's husband, Bonelela 'Buzza' Mgudlwa, was ordered to repay millions alongside his business partner, Katleho Mokonyane.

The R14 million is reportedly linked to the COVID-19 PPE contracts, which were awarded during the pandemic.

Why is Anele Mdoda's hubby involved in PPE scandal?

According to MDNnewss, the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) found that the Mpumalanga Department of Health gave Tark Group Pty Ltd two contracts to provide medical jumpsuits and surgical masks.

Judge David Makhoba ruled on 25 March 2026 that the contracts were "unlawfully given to the company, constitutionally invalid, and void from the outset." In addition, the company reportedly failed to meet certain compliance requirements.

As a result, both Bonelela Mgudlwa and Katleho Mokonyane, who is Nomvula Monkonyane's daughter, were held responsible for returning the R14.3 million, alleging that they "acted fraudulently and dishonestly in securing and executing the contracts. They have been ordered to repay the full amount, forfeit any profits, and cover the SIU’s legal costs."

The X blog closed off by stating that no criminal charges have been laid at this point.
