A video of Dolly Parton defiantly telling fans "I ain't dead yet" has gone viral again on X, this time under far more heartbreaking circumstances. The clip, which Parton originally posted on 8 October 2025, was resurfaced by @allurequinn following the country music legend's death on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, at the age of 80.
What Dolly Parton said in the video
In the 2025 clip, the Guinness World Record holder appeared in good spirits, filming herself on the set of a Grand Ole Opry commercial shoot. She addressed growing speculation about her health, which had escalated after her younger sister Freida Parton publicly asked fans to pray for her.
The concerns deepened when Parton rescheduled six December concerts at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, pushing them to the following September. She explained that the decision stemmed from health issues she had put aside while caring for her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, who had died earlier in 2025.

She did not disclose the exact nature of her health challenges but described them as minor, confirming she was undergoing treatment at the Vanderbilt University Medical Centre in Nashville.
"Nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home, closer to Vanderbilt, you know, where I'm kind of having a few treatments here and there, but I wanted you to know that I'm not dying," she said in the clip.
