Gagasi FM content specialist Ayanda Melansi has become the subject of intense social media chatter after reports emerged that she had been suspended from the popular KwaZulu-Natal radio station.
The rumours were fuelled by allegations that Melansi had been charging artists in exchange for securing them radio interviews, a claim that quickly gained traction online and put both her and Gagasi FM under the spotlight.
Gagasi FM breaks silence on Ayanda Melansi
Gagasi FM business development lead and spokesman Khulekani Shandu has pushed back firmly against the speculation, describing it as unfortunate and seemingly designed to damage the reputations of both the station and Melansi.

Shandu confirmed that Melansi is currently away from work, but was emphatic that her absence has nothing to do with a suspension.
"What I can say is that there are internal issues we cannot comment on publicly. We want to make it clear that Ayanda's absence from work is not due to suspension. She's on leave," Shandu said.
Station aware of the online noise
While Gagasi FM acknowledged that it is aware of the conversations circulating on social media, Shandu indicated that the station is not in a position to respond to every claim being made publicly. He added that further statements would be issued in due course as the situation develops.
The pay-to-play allegations are particularly sensitive in the broadcasting industry, where editorial independence and impartiality are considered cornerstones of credibility. If proven, such conduct would raise serious ethical questions about how artists gain access to airtime.
