Lasizwe has spoken out after facing intense criticism for hosting controversial media personality Nota Baloyi on his Awkward Dates YouTube series.
The influencer announced Nota as his latest guest on 26 August 2026, a decision that split his audience almost instantly. One user, Batmanproverbs, led the charge against Lasizwe, accusing him of deliberately courting a straight audience at the expense of his gay fan base.
"The gays need to unsubscribe from this loser! All he does is platform homophobic people to appeal to the straights. No matter what you do, Lasizwe, they will always spit on you even if you were on fire. Sies, man."
Lasizwe defends his decision
Rather than staying quiet, Lasizwe clapped back by sharing footage from the actual date, which showed him placing a printed sheet of Nota's most controversial posts on the table and challenging him directly on those views. He also addressed the broader criticism head-on.

"Apparently having a conversation with someone means you endorse everything they've ever said. Meanwhile, this was Nota's reaction when I literally PRINTED out ALL his out-of-line tweets, put them in front of him and challenged him on them."
He added, "I'm not interested in creating spaces where everyone already agrees with me. I'm interested in what happens when people who DON'T agree are made to sit across from each other, confront uncomfortable conversations and hopefully leave understanding each other a little differently. You can disagree with that approach. But please don't confuse conversation with endorsement."

But others were far less forgiving.
Senthaaaaa wrote:
"You are so annoying. No amount of explanations will ever change that for content; even a murderer would be on that chair."
BigB_Snowflake slammed him directly:
"You're still endorsing homophobia. You have such a deep desire to be chosen by straight men; you had that guy who's an open homophobe and hates women, you were laughing."
summer_rob11914 agreed:
"You are still endorsing the man, Lasizwe. There shouldn't be anything that makes you have him on your platform."
