A flashy new reality show teaser has sent social media into a spin after entertainment commentator Phil Mphela shared what he described as an official SABC acquisition — only for the broadcaster to swiftly shut the claims down as fake news.
Mphela posted the preview for a show called Glam & Grind on X on Thursday, 27 August 2026, naming Khosi Twala, Balalwa Mneno, Doromongy and Dineo Moloisane, who is doing well on her YouTube channel, as the cast. According to his post, the show would give viewers a look into the lives of some of South Africa's most recognisable influencers and club hosts, with no confirmed premiere date yet.
The slickly produced teaser blends cinematic aerial city shots, private jet footage, nightclub scenes and candid talking-head interviews filmed in upscale home settings. Cast members speak directly to camera about hustle, ambition and staying "in the bag," with Khosi Twala's Big Brother Titans win referenced as part of her backstory.

Both SABC 1 and SABC 3 moved quickly to distance themselves from the project. In a statement posted on Wednesday, 25 August 2026, SABC 1 wrote:
"🚨 FAKE NEWS ALERT. Please note that these shows are not coming to SABC 1. The posters circulating online are not official. For accurate programming updates, please follow SABC 1's official platforms."
The denial sparked its own wave of debate, with many South Africans divided not just over the show's authenticity, but over whether it deserved a platform at all.
