Khanyi said time spent in Dubai brought the two of them closer, and as she started to recognise that her daughter would eventually build her own life and family, her sense of responsibility deepened. That same awareness now shapes how she presents herself online and in public. Khanyi said she has intentionally pulled back from oversharing, aware that her daughter is an adult with her own social circle. She even joked that her sense of style has evolved because she now thinks of herself primarily as a mother.

Professionally, Khanyi remains focused. She is set to appear in Meet The Khumalos 2 on Netflix and says she is being intentional about ensuring her career choices align with her personal growth rather than chasing visibility for its own sake.

On the subject of her five-year relationship with Zimbabwean businessman Kudzai Mushonga, which ended in February 2025 following her return to South Africa from Dubai, Khanyi kept things measured. She chose not to go into detail about what led to the split, instead describing him as a good, wise and talented person. She made clear she has no interest in airing private details or publicly criticising him, saying that knowing when to stay silent is itself a sign of growth. For her, protecting someone else's dignity is part of her own healing process.
