Sinethemba Madondo, a Johannesburg-based digital creator, recorded a raw, unfiltered video from her workplace storeroom on 5 September 2025. In it, she spoke directly to her future self, laying out everything she believed her life could become.

She said she was earning under R4,000. Still, she looked into the camera and declared that within twelve months, she would be earning quadruple that amount. She spoke about driving her own car, living in an apartment, glowing skin, and being free from the constant stress of financial survival. She did not know how it would happen. She just believed it would.

One year later, on a balcony

On 11 September 2026, Madondo checked back in, this time from a balcony. The contrast was striking. She confirmed that she was earning more, that she had a place of her own, that she was driving, and that she had not paid for her learner's licence or driver's licence out of pocket. She told her past self that the fight-or-flight feeling was gone. She was, in her own words, actually living life.

She closed the video saying,

"This is just the beginning."

The clip, posted on her Instagram page, resonated far beyond what she may have expected. Madondo, who has over 246,000 followers on Instagram and more than 700,000 on TikTok, watched the video take on a life of its own as viewers recognised something of themselves in her story.
