South African podcaster and content creator Khanyi Mars had X in stitches after The Hype Channel posted a clip of her wearing an AI bald filter, her fully glam makeup and oversized glasses sitting on a completely hairless head. The combination was enough to send the timeline into meltdown. It did not take long for the comparisons to roll in. X user @jpegmobb quoted the post with the line:
"Ngathi yilantwana yaku My Wife and Kids, loosely translated as, ‘She looks like that child from My Wife and Kids.’”
The Franklin Mumford connection
The reference points directly to Franklin Aloysius Mumford, the smooth-headed, hyper-intelligent child character played by Noah Gray-Cabey in the beloved 2000s American sitcom. Fans who grew up watching the show instantly recognised the resemblance, with many posting GIFs and recalling Franklin's iconic piano performances and long-winded monologues.

Mzansi can't get enough
Beyond the sitcom nostalgia, the clip also sparked wider conversation about Khanyi's knack for staying relevant on the timeline.
@travfishscott:
"The roots of ukuGwarana started in creche, slightly improved in primary, evolved in high school, then took a life of its own on Twitter. 😭😭"
@The_Zumanator:
"I signed up for Twitter for this. 😹😹"
@Emancipatirr:
"Junior? 😭😂 I can't unsee it now."
The clip achieved exactly what a good piece of social media content is supposed to do; it got people laughing, reminiscing, and tagging their friends. Whether Khanyi planned the comparison or stumbled into viral gold, Mzansi clearly loved every second of it.
