Ntuli alleges that the two men claimed ownership of land on which his business operates and demanded a protection fee after he secured a SANRAL tender to upgrade the Moloto road through Kwaggafontein. Sibanyoni denied sending any threatening message to Ntuli and said Sindane acted alone in dispatching a WhatsApp message that threatened to disrupt Ntuli's operations.

The taxi boss, who has previously denied any connection to an alleged extortion racket, has also faced questions about alleged links to the so-called Big Five cartel. At an earlier appearance, Sibanyoni complained that evidence was being revealed piece by piece, a process he argued was inflating his legal costs and amounted to unfair treatment by the commission. He is expected to continue testifying on Wednesday, 30 September 2026.

Thando Nje's connection to Sibanyoni became more prominent in May 2026, when she was seen at the Kwaggafontein Magistrate's Court on the day his case was struck off the roll during what was scheduled to be a bail hearing.
