Days after dropping his sophomore album, amapiano singer Young Stunna has finally opened up about the woman behind the title. In a heartfelt Facebook post shared on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, the Daveyton-born artist revealed that Busisiwe is named after his late great-grandmother, a woman he says shaped nearly everything about who he is today.

Stunna wrote that he was raised by his great-grandmother and grandmothers, describing the experience as one filled with love, guidance and care. He recalled how "Mama," as the family called her, made sure everyone in the house was fed and looked after from birth until each person found their own footing in life.

Busisiwe believed before anyone else

What stood out most in his post was how fiercely his great-grandmother believed in his music career, even when the rest of the family had doubts. She would hand him money to get to gigs and wait up to make sure he made it home safely. "She never once made me feel like I should quit music," he wrote.

Her influence stretched far beyond emotional support. Stunna revealed that Busisiwe was part of a church choir that consistently placed first, and it was those Sunday services held right inside their home that first sparked his deep connection to music. The church songs, he said, had a way of making everything feel okay.

Where his style was born

His sense of fashion also traces back to her. He used to borrow her shirts and pair them with chinos, building an eye for clothing at a very young age. That early experimentation, he says, is exactly why he has never needed a stylist. "So much of what I am creatively started at home, with her," he wrote.

Closing the post with raw emotion, Stunna dedicated the album directly to her: "Mama, this album is yours." He added that he believes she is "breaking a leg wherever you are," before signing off with a message of love and a wish for her continued rest in peace.

Fans responded warmly to the post. @justcallmeteezy wrote: "God bless you brudda, God bless her too. ❤️ can't wait for midnight." @blackreign123 added: "Your great-grandmother raised a real one 🔥🔥🔥🙌🙌"
