A Durban security guard is being celebrated across South Africa after his employer stepped up to honour him in a way he never expected.
Goodson Mseleshe made headlines after helping a mother and her two children who were stranded on a dangerous bend of Sarnia Road when their car ran out of petrol. He had just come off a night shift and had only R100 left on him. Without hesitation, he used every last cent to buy the family enough fuel to get home safely.
When the mother offered to repay him, Goodson turned her down. Knowing they had made it home in one piece was enough for him.
Excellerate Security presents a distinguished conduct award
The story caught the attention of his employer, Excellerate Security, who decided his actions deserved more than a quiet word of thanks. The company held a special ceremony and presented Goodson with a Distinguished Conduct Award, recognising the character he showed on and off the clock.
