Zwai Bala has moved to set the record straight after his Instagram post about The Bala Family left fans in a state of panic.

On 29 September 2026, the eldest of the Bala siblings announced on Instagram that the beloved family reality show would not be returning for a third season. He acknowledged that the family had spent close to two years trying to bring it to life, but the call to shut it down ultimately was not theirs to make. "We were ready. The audience was ready. The decision wasn't ours," he wrote in the emotional post. "We are sorry for keeping you waiting, especially when our hope may have sounded like a promise."

Zwai Bala Speaks on Kaya 959

A few days after the Instagram post, Zwai appeared on Kaya 959 to give fans a fuller picture of what had been happening behind the scenes. He painted a picture of a family that had grown and shifted significantly since the last season, with new developments in their music, individual careers and business ventures, as well as a growing next generation coming into its own.

"A lot was happening in the family, in our family businesses, our music, in our individual careers and in the next generation," he said. "There were definitely musical collaborations and family moments we were excited about," he added.

The show is on hold, not over

The key clarification Zwai offered was the distinction between a cancellation and a pause. He stressed that Season 3 is on hold and that there are currently no plans to tape or air it, but the door has not been permanently shut. "We never stopped wanting to tell the story," he said, adding that should the right opportunity present itself, the family would jump at it.

"So the family isn't going anywhere just because the cameras aren't rolling," he said.

The distinction between "hold" and "cancelled" is one many fans had been debating since the original post, and Zwai's radio appearance appeared designed to address exactly that uncertainty head-on.
