The SABC has secured a deal with multihyphenate entertainer Somizi Mhlongo to bring his new podcast, Life Lessons With Somizi, to the S3 channel, according to entertainment reporter Kgopolo Mphela.
Phil Mphela shared the news on X on 28 October 2026, revealing that the national broadcaster had "inked a deal" with Mhlongo. Beyond hosting the show, Somizi will also carry the title of executive producer, giving him significant creative control over the project.
From YouTube to SABC S3
The podcast was not always destined for television. Somizi had initially announced that Life Lessons With Somizi would debut on YouTube in September 2026, but the SABC deal has since changed its home. Moving the show from a digital-first platform to a national broadcast network significantly widens its potential audience across South Africa. Details about the format, guest lineup, and premiere date on S3 have not yet been confirmed.

Peeps react to the SABC deal
The news set off a wave of conversation on X, with opinions ranging from amusement to outright suspicion about how Somizi consistently lands major deals.
@SyandaZulu19900 wrote:
"SABC is single-handedly trying to turn Somizi into a billionaire."
@MATSHAYA444 was far more blunt, saying:
"I swear Somizi has something on these people...literally!!!"
@ItsNathi_Costa brought up podcaster MacG:
"Lol MacG again. He literally said on his show Somizi is a podcast mine. SABC ran with it. I hope it fails. They are doing it to make sure Somizi never visits Podcastandchill, since Mac also made it clear he would love to have Somizi on his pod."
Somizi announced his podcast around August 2026
Somizi Mhlongo took to social media to announce his upcoming podcast, admitting he once said he would never start one.
The project is among several projects keeping the media personality busy, including his fashion line and his Metro FM show.
