Nirvana Nokwe has broken her silence on the wave of public hostility she's faced, delivering a pointed message about hatred, ideology and what she believes is a deep failure of emotional intelligence in South Africa.

In a video posted to her Instagram page on 28 October 2026, the actress spoke candidly about the kinds of comments she regularly encounters from people online, particularly those questioning who she will "accuse next."

"A lot of the time, when I receive comments about me looking for someone else to accuse, I always have to remind myself how much hatred is in people and how people don't have the necessary tools to be able to adequately separate their own personal hatred, their own ideology that they adopted from God knows where," she said.

Nokwe expressed deep frustration at what she sees as South Africans' inability to separate personal prejudice from another person's lived experience. "It's so sad because South Africa has been reduced to one of the most emotionally illiterate countries because of their inability to separate hatred, ideology and what another person is going through," she added.

Her Instagram caption extended the message further, touching on the dangers of silence and denial.

"Denial is a weapon. In this country, we fight for our dignity in a failing system, only to face hostility from those it fails, too. May we find the courage to confront harm, rather than punish those who speak against it," she wrote, closing with: "I pray you heal Azania."

The Red Ink allegations against Bonko Khoza

The video arrives in the long shadow of her September 2023 accusations against actor Bonko Khoza, her co-star on the Showmax production Red Ink. She alleged that during a scene, Khoza improvised physical contact she had not consented to, specifically claiming he groped her despite having made clear she was not comfortable with sexualised actions.

Nokwe-Mseleku reported the incident to the production and formally opened a criminal case against Khoza in May 2024. Authorities ultimately declined to prosecute. An internal review by Bomb Productions, together with a review of unedited footage conducted by M-Net and crew representatives, found no evidence of sexual misconduct or thrusting.

Khoza denied the allegations outright, maintaining that the scene was fully clothed, pre-rehearsed and performed in front of crew members throughout.

When the allegations became widely known in mid-2026, they prompted significant conversation around workplace safety and accountability in South African film and television. Much of the public reaction, however, turned against Nokwe herself, with critics accusing her of attention-seeking, a response she directly confronts in her latest message.

Her video ultimately centres on three things: healing, accountability and the right to speak about harm without being punished for it.
