A local woman took to social media on 15 August 2026 to air her grievances about Woolworths, and her post hit a nerve with shoppers across the country. In the clip shared on Instagram account @scene2act1, Sintu described buying a new set of spencers from the retailer, only to find herself itching and suffering hot flashes after wearing them.

Woolworths changes their spensers' quality

Having bought Woolworths spencers since childhood, she was caught off guard when she checked the label and found the fabric listed as 65% polyester and 35% viscose. Her old white spencer, she noted, was 100% cotton. Her frustration was not just about the discomfort. She questioned why Woolworths had changed the fabric without any notice to loyal customers, and added that she now had to make a trip back to the store to return the items and get her money back.
