Mama Joy Backs Danny Jordaan to Win SAFA Election, Predicts Zungu Victory in 2030

Bafana Bafana super fan Joy "Mama Joy" Chauke has openly backed South African Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan ahead of the upcoming leadership conference, insisting he remains the best person available to lead the organisation.

Speaking on the latest edition of Supporters Forum on KickOff, Chauke confirmed she had been personally invited by Jordaan to attend the conference as his guest and that she intended to go in his corner.

Mama Joy backs Jordaan despite fraud case

Chauke acknowledged Jordaan's ongoing legal troubles but argued his guilt has yet to be established. "For now he is still a suspect [in his court cases]. He must continue to lead us. Let's wait for Saturday; I believe he will be victorious," she said.

She defended the incumbent's record by pointing to the performances of both Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana, framing his continued leadership as a matter of continuity.

"The president still needs to lead us to AFCON and WAFCON, the FIFA Women's World Cup and men's World Cup. Why fix if not broken?" she said.

Her position is notable given her role as secretary-general of the South African National Supporters Association (SANASU), which has officially opted to remain neutral between Jordaan and challenger Sandile Zungu. Chauke was clear, however, that her personal stance is a separate matter.

Zungu's time will come, says Chauke

While firmly backing Jordaan for the current contest, Chauke did not dismiss Zungu entirely. She predicted that the challenger would eventually have his moment, but not yet.

"I am not scared; I am not shaken. Bab' Zungu will win the next election in 2030, not this one. This one, Dr Jordaan will win it," she said.
