A video of a Nedbank employee losing her patience with a difficult client has set South African social media alight, with many viewers firmly in her corner.

Twitter user @ReleGlo posted the clip on 18 August 2026, captioning it: “Give the sister her flowers, she knows how to deal with content customers.”

The footage, filmed inside a Nedbank branch, shows a heated exchange between a female employee and a male client. It is not clear what sparked the dispute, but the man can be heard accusing her of refusing to assist him.

At some point, he raised his phone to record her, stepped too close, and she knocked the device out of his hand. The phone hit the floor, and the moment instantly divided opinion online.

Nedbank staff member stands her ground

Many viewers on @ReleGlo's clip felt the employee had every right to respond the way she did, arguing that staff routinely face disrespectful behaviour from customers without any protection. Others, however, pointed out that the consequences for her could be severe regardless of who was at fault.

South Africans flooded the comments with strong opinions:

@NyakegoMaponya said:

“The only problem is that she’s going to be fired because of this.”

@siphokarabo1 wrote:

“So when a woman loses it, it’s celebrated. Society is actually the one hyping such nonsense. Unfortunately, a final written warning or straight dismissal will follow after this.”

@Rabelan00929630 added:

“Please Nedbank, we know you are a business, and you don’t want to lose customers, but some are not worth it.”

@TommyEganWaZA declared:

“If they fire her, we go to that workplace and strike.”
