The 108 destinations include countries offering visa-free entry, visa on arrival, simplified entry arrangements, and Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA).

Within Africa, the South African passport ranks third out of all 54 African Union member states assessed. It is a position that places the country ahead of the majority of its continental neighbours. The data, published on 19 August 2026, reflects just how much ground South Africa holds compared to the rest of the continent, with only two African nations ranking higher on the global index.
