Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) students found an unexpected way to meet their evacuation deadline on 19 August 2026. Instead of packing in panic, some chose to dance.

A TikTok video posted by @sikhunyanamimiselo captured the mood on campus after CPUT issued a notice ordering all residence students to vacate within 24 hours. The deadline was set for 4 pm that day. Rather than leave quietly, a group of students were filmed dancing and playing games right as the clock ran out.
