A Durban North woman made history within her own family on 27 August 2026. Nicole Bollman became the fourth registered owner of a home that has stood for 119 years, and the moment meant far more than a simple property transfer.
According to Nicole's Facebook post, the property was first registered in 1907. The Bloem family took ownership in 1943 and built the house that Nicole would eventually grow up in. Then in 1973, her parents, Kay Lindsay Bollman and Dennis Stanley Bollman, moved in from East View Road. Nicole was born less than a year later.
When the Deeds Office finalised the transfer on that Thursday in August, the official record read: BOLLMAN Estate Late KL → BOLLMAN NJ. For Nicole, those few characters carried the weight of a lifetime.
A home that holds the story of a family
Nicole described the house as old and in need of some care, but said it holds memories within its walls that no renovation could replace. For her, ownership is not just about bricks and title deeds. It is a chance to remain close to her late parents, if only through the spaces they once shared.
