"He Was Innocent": 13-Year-Old Boy Shot Dead by Security Guard While Playing in Cape Town

A 13-year-old boy lost his life after a private security guard allegedly opened fire on him while he and two friends played in Uitsig, Cape Town, on 11 September 2026. The incident took place at the old Holy Cross Home on De La Rey Road.

The boy was shot in the back and died at the scene. His two friends were reportedly unharmed. It is alleged that the guard fired on the children while they were on the property.

South Africans flooded the comments section with grief and anger over the shooting:

"This is a child. Why shoot him? If he violated something just walk up to him and say brother you are not allowed to play here but a coward shoots someone in the back. I hope they put him in jail how must poor parents feel."
