A 78-year-old grandmother has done what most teenagers only dream about. She became a record-breaking Fortnite streamer and received a Guinness World Records certificate to prove it.
BBC News shared a video of the pensioner on TikTok on 27 September 2026, filmed from what looked like a home gaming setup. In it, she held up her certificate, spoke about how her streaming journey began, and made it clear she was not in it to impress anyone.
"It wasn't important whether I was a success or not. It was just this challenge of being able to do it."

How a granny took on Fortnite
The whole thing started with a casual conversation. She told her grandson Lewis she was going to start streaming, then simply went ahead and did it. She named her channel Grumpy Ground 1948, a nod to her birth year, and jumped into Fortnite with a mindset that caught players completely off guard.

"I just go in and they all laugh at me, because the one thing that I do like is this is me. And my challenging nature is to go in and eliminate folks."
Her goal was straightforward: keep as many limbs as possible by the end of each game. She added with a laugh:
"The more limbs I have at the end of a game, the more happy I am."
She described walking into the world of online gaming as "probably a bit naive," but said she simply took each step as it came, which is clearly the approach that got her to record-breaking status.
