Sir Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy "Lulu" Muteke, tragically lost their lives on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, when the helicopter carrying six occupants crashed in the rural Marondera area east of Harare.

According to official reports, the aircraft crashed around 5:00 PM while en route from Chikomba district. Authorities confirmed that all six individuals on board—including the couple, two passengers, and two pilots—perished in the fatal accident, sending shockwaves across Zimbabwe and social media.

Dignitaries and relatives gather in Glen View

Journalist Talent Gore, reporting live for ZTN Prime from the Chivayo residence, confirmed that both families initiated the final leg of the funeral proceedings on Wednesday morning. The procession brought the couple home for the final time, allowing close relatives and community members to pay their last respects.
