PRETORIA — Former Speaker of Parliament and minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula faces potential arrest after missing her scheduled legal hearing in Tshwane on 2 October 2026 following health complications during earlier cross-examination. High Court judges agreed to hold the execution of the order until her upcoming session in November.
According to TimesLIVE, legal proceedings came to a halt earlier in the week when the accused experienced illness during testimony. Defence representative, advocate Siyabulela Mapoma, provided valid medical paperwork during Friday’s session to account for her non-attendance and formally requested a deferral.

The legal battle stems from allegations dating back to her leadership at the military department from 2016 through 2019. Authorities allege she improperly requested R4.5 million in payments, including R2.1 million in physical currency, from defense vendor Nombasa Ntsondwa-Ndhlovu to protect commercial agreements. Mapisa-Nqakula maintains her complete innocence against all counts of money laundering and corruption.
